Selena Gomez, who has had quite a complicated relationship with social media in the past, is choosing to take another break from social media. “I’m very happy, I’m so blessed, I have the best friends, the best fans in the whole world and I just couldn’t be happier,” she said in a TikTok live video.
She added, “I’m good. I love the way I am I don’t care, I’m big, I’m not, I don’t care. I love who I am. And yeah, I’m gonna be taking a second from social media, because this is a little silly. And I’m 30, I’m too old for this, so…but I love you guys so much! And I will see you guys sooner than later, I just… I’m just gonna just take a break from everything.”
The move comes after Gomez reacted to a fan-edit that implied that Gomez was subtly targeted in Hailey Bieber’s TikTok video shared in January. In the clip, the model lip-synced to a viral audio sound alongside two friends, including Kendall Jenner.
As People tabloid notes, the trio mouthed: “I’m not saying she deserved it, but I’m saying God’s timing is always right.” Though the video made no mention of Gomez, it was deleted shortly after being posted. The Only Murders In The Building actress was quick to resolve any potential controversy when informed about the video a month later.
“It’s ok! I don’t let these things get me down! Be nice to everyone! x,” Gomez commented last week on the video shared on January 9. Additionally, earlier this week, the singer also responded to a TikTok of Bieber pretending to gag when Swift’s music is mentioned in Drop the Mic. “So sorry, my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game,” wrote Gomez in a comment.
