When Deepika Padukone had Vicky Kaushal replaced by a ‘bigger star’!

Actress Deepika Padukone has given various iconic performances in her career spanning two years. One of her most iconic performances includes Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 magnum opus Padmaavat. The film had an ensemble cast of Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. Well, not many people know that Shahid Kapoor’s role of Raja Ratan Singh was first offered to Vicky Kaushal.
Yes, you heard that right Vicky was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first choice to play the role, however, things didn’t work out and Shahid Kapoor landed the role. If sources are to be believed, the reason for Vicky for not being finalised in the film is Deepika. It was Deepika Padukone who straight away rejected the idea of Vicky being cast as Maharawal Ratan Singh. Deepika wanted Sanjay Leela Bhansali to cast some huge star and that’s how Shahid Kapoor was finalized for the role.
However, the accuracy of the rumour has to date not been confirmed, as in the same year of Padmaavat’s release, Vicky and Deepika have worked for a commercial together.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika Padukone will next be seen in Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan. The film is set to release on Amazon Prime on the 11th of February. Whereas, Vicky Kaushal who recently got married to his lady love Katrina Kaif, will next be seen in his upcoming project, Govinda Naam Mera.
