Netflix’s latest serving, Trial By Fire, is bagging praises from everywhere. The series is led by a pitch-perfect performance by Rajshri Deshpande and Abhay Deol. Among many others, filmmaker Karan Johar also watched the series and shared his review with his followers on Instagram.

KJo took to his Instagram story section and shared a snip from the series featuring Abhay Deol and Rajshri Despande. Captioning his Insta story, Karan wrote, “Broke my heart and gave me a gold standard narrative of resilience… this series is a masterclass in narrative, execution and portrayals!”

The 50-year-old filmmaker further added, “Rajashree Deshpande and Abhay Deol are the rock-solid emotional pillars of this stunningly brilliant mini series! They are extraordinary! Take a bow Kevin Lupercio and Prashant Nair and Team @netflix_in.. I sleep with a heavy heart and inspired feeling all at once…”

For the unversed, the seven-episode-long Netflix original series is based on a book of the same name, written by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy. The official synopsis of the series read, “After the deadly Uphaar cinema fire, two grief-stricken parents navigate the loss of their kids and a dogged fight for justice. Based on true events.”

On 13 June 1997, 59 people died and 103 were injured after a massive fire broke out at Uphaar Cinema in Delhi’s Green Park. The victims were regular moviegoers who were there to see Sunny Deol starrer Border.

During the promotions of the series ahead of its release on the streaming giant, Abhay said, “Possibly the hardest role I’ve ever had to portray. I’ve done true stories before but this one has to be the most tragic. A fire that left a trail of tragedies in its wake,” in one of his Instagram posts.
