A groom in Bihar’s Purnia refused to get married after his family members were served food late. Reportedly, the matter got worse and the groom returned all the gifts he had received from the bride’s father and left the venue.
The incident took place in Iswari Tola at Batauna village of Mohani Panchayat in Purnia. The bride’s mother, Meena Devi, said her daughter’s marriage was fixed with Rajkumar Oraon, a resident of Amari Kukraun, located in Dhamdaha police station area of Purnia district.
At the scheduled time, the baarat reached the venue. While performing the wedding ceremony, there was a delay in feeding the family members of the groom.
After that, the groom and his father got angry and started to return, refusing to go ahead with the wedding ceremony. The locals and the panchayat tried to resolve the matter between the two sides. But to no avail, the groom had fled the venue.
The father of the groom got angry that the baarat was served food late. He paid the bride’s family the expenses incurred for cooking the food, along with the bike and all other materials received by the groom.
Now, the bride’s mother has lodged a complaint against the groom and his father at the Kasba police station.
