The 90s heartthrob Amrita Singh celebrates her 65 th birthday today and we can’t help but be excited to see one of our favourite heroines from childhood is still as beautiful as she we remembered her to be. Born on Feb 9, 1958, Amrita Singh has starred in many iconic films alongside some of the most prominent stars from her time.

To celebrate this special with our special lady Amrita Singh, we have curated a list of some of her most iconic roles from the time when she dominated Bollywood.

1. Betaab

Amrita Singh’s made her debut along with a fellow debutante Sunny Deol. She plays the character of Roma, a rich spoilt brat who huffs and puffs her way through romance and rebellion for the most part. The film also stars Shammi Kapoor and Nirupa Roy in key roles.

2. Saaheb

After making a prominent debut in the industry, Amrita went of star alongside Anil Kapoor in Saaheb, where she plays the character of an easy-going diva and Anil’s lady love. The film revolves around the struggles in the life of an aspiring footballer trying to make it big, but is facing heavy criticisms from his family and friends.

3. Waaris

Probably one of the most iconic roles of Amrita Singh came in the form of an innocent woman who against her own wishes decides to marry an older man of her sister’s choice. The older man here is played by none other than Raj Babbar and the elder sister was played by late Smita Patil. The film is an adaptation of a Punjabi novel, Kaare Hatthi.

4. Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman

Probably one of the biggest hits of Amrita Singh’s career came alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla. Amrita plays the character of Sapna, a rich girl who lives a glamorous life falls for a young upstart working at her father’s company. The film received a lot of appreciation from the global audience and helped a lot in giving a much-needed push to Amrita, SRK and Juhi’s careers.

5. Shootout at Lokhandwala

Amrita’s character as Mrs Dolas in this crime thriller action only served to prove her prominence in the industry as one of the most versatile actresses in Bollywood. She beautifully portrayed the character of a gangster mom and went toe to toe against Sanjay Dutt’s A. A. Khan. The film features an ensemble cast of Amrita Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Arbaaz Khan, Vivek Oberoi, Tusshar Kapoor and Diya Mirza.
