Shakarpara Recipe
Step 1 Knead a thick dough
To prepare this Shakarpara recipe, take a wide bowl and add ghee and maida with little water. Combine these ingredients using your hands and knead them into a thick dough. Take small portions of the dough. These are traditionally made in a cylindrical shape; however, you can shape them into squares or triangles as well.
Step 2 Deep fry the shakarpara balls
Meanwhile, take a pan add oil and heat it over medium flame. Once the oil is sufficiently hot, carefully add the Shakarpara balls in the pan. Deep fry them till they turn slightly golden in colour. Keep the flame low. Once done, drain the excess oil using an absorbent paper and transfer in the plate.
Step 3 Make sugar syrup with saffron
Meanwhile, take another pan and add the water and the sugar to it. Heat the pan over a medium flame. Then add saffron powder and simmer the mixture till it gets thick and sticky in texture. Then remove from flame and keep aside.
Step 4 Dip the fried balls in sugar syrup and enjoy when they are cooled
Add the deep-fried balls into the sugar syrup and mix so that the sugar syrup is well coated. Once the syrup is properly soaked, remove the Shakarparas and transfer them to a plate. Sprinkle cardamom powder on it and let the Shakarparas attain normal room temperature. Serve the delicious sweet delight with tea or coffee.
