Woman Who Hasn’t Cut Her World-Record Nails in 30 Years Decides To Make a Change

Written by on March 15, 2022

A woman with the world’s longest fingernails is ready to retire her title. Ayanna Williams holds the Guinness World Record for her long nails, but after almost 30 years she’s finally ready to give up her crown .

Back then, her nails measured an impressive 18 feet, 10.9 inches and she needed more than two full bottles of nail polish and 20 hours to do a manicure. In her final measurements, her nails were 24 feet, 0.7 inches, and it would take three to four bottles of polish and several days for Williams to give herself a manicure.

Growing up, she always loved nail art and would ask her mother to measure how long her nails were and paint them different colors. She started seriously growing out her nails more than 28 years ago and never stopped.
Certain day-to-day tasks were impossible for Williams, such as washing the dishes and making her bed, but for the most part she loved having long nails.

Her clipped nails will be preserved and kept at the Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum in Orlando, Florida.

Although Williams is the most recent record holder, her nails are not the longest in history. Lee Redmond previously won the title with nails that measured 28 feet, 4.5 inches.
