Linda Yaccarino tweets about her first day as Twitter CEO, asks followers to stay tuned

On day 1 as the CEO of Twitter, Linda Yaccarino shared her thoughts with the world and asked her followers to ‘stay tuned’.
Elon Musk bought Twitter in a much-publicised deal last year and turned the micro-blogging website upside down. From firing its top executives (including the then-CEO Parag Agrawal) to introducing major changes in Twitter’s user interface, Musk’s ‘Twitter 2.0’ turned out to be quite different from the blue bird platform that we all were used to. Musk’s leadership style at Twitter also made headlines as the new chief got famous for engaging in public arguments with employees, sending late night emails, and so on. And this was followed by a lot of criticism by netizens. In December 2022, Musk had said that the day he will step down as Twitter’s CEO when he finds someone ‘foolish enough to take up the job’.
And Musk found the right person for the job in form of Linda Yaccarino, the ex-NBC top executive who has just started her new job. On day 1 as the CEO of Twitter, Yaccarino shared her thoughts with the world and asked her followers to ‘stay tuned’.
She wrote, “It happened — first day in the books! Stay tuned.”
Before starting her new job, Yaccarino also hired her trusted advisor and NBC colleague, Joe Benarroch, to build Elon Musk’s ‘Twitter 2.0’. The new Twitter boss welcomed Benarroch via a tweet. She wrote, “Welcome to the flock, @benarroch_joe! From one bird to the next. Let’s get to work @Twitter! #timetofly.”
On May 12, Musk had confirmed that Yaccarino will be the new Twitter boss and people were quite intrigued to know more about her.
The new Twitter CEO will look after business operations primarily, so that Musk has time to pay attention to his other two companies, Space X and Tesla. The Twitter owner, however, isn’t relinquishing all control. He will still be in charge of product design and new technology when it comes to Twitter.
Welcoming Yaccarino to the team, Musk wrote, “I am excited to welcome Linda Yaccarino as the new CEO of Twitter! @LindaYacc will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design and new technology. Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.”
Responding to Musk’s tweet of welcoming her to the new role, Linda Yaccarino wrote, “I’ve long been inspired by your vision to create a brighter future. I’m excited to help bring this vision to Twitter and transform this business together!”
In another tweet, she added that she is not ‘as prolific as Musk’ on this platform yet but she is quite committed to building Musk’s Twitter 2.0.
