A man’s bizarre attempt to transport several meters of timber out of a New Zealand BunningsΒ carpark has gone viral.
In a video posted to the social media platform, the man can be seen attempting to transport several long pieces of timber out the rear window of his Holden Cruse.
The timber extends so far out of the man’s car that it almost entirely obstructs the opposing lane at the Bunnings store in South Auckland.
A team member from the New Zealand store had attempted to inform the customer that his load was unsafe.
In a statement to 9News.com.au, Bunnings said team members do their best to ensure customers are leaving the carpark safely.
“The safety of our team and customers is our number one priority, and we have extensive training and guidelines in place to make sure everyone leaves our stores safely,” the spokesperson said.
“Our team do their best to work with customers to make sure that loads are safe before they leave our stores.
According to New Zealand’s road rules, if a vehicle’s load extends more than 200mm beyond the sides of the vehicle it must display hazard warning panels such as flags.
