Shankar Mahadevan expresses pride for Grammy Awards win

India celebrated a significant victory at the recent Grammy Awards, with Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain’s band Shakti clinching the prestigious Best Global Music Album award for their outstanding work on This Moment. The ensemble, which also features guitarist John McLaughlin, vocalist Shankar Mahadevan, percussionist V Selvaganesh, and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan, earned accolades for their exceptional contribution to global music.
Grammy-winning Indian music composer Ricky Kej expressed his congratulations to the band by sharing a video of their acceptance speech on his official X account. Kej praised the achievement, stating, “SHAKTI wins a Grammy!!! Through this album, 4 brilliant Indian musicians win Grammys!! Just amazing. India is shining in every direction. Shankar Mahadevan, Selvaganesh Vinayakram, Ganesh Rajagopalan, Ustad Zakhir Hussain.”
